MAS 200 - Is this supported on VMWare Server 5? I'm on site with a customer where their server crashed yesterday. IT vendor has brought in a temporary server with VMWare Server 5 with Server 2008 R2 as a virtual server. I installed 200 4.4. The 200 application just dies when trying to start it from a fresh installed. I also can't run the install in MAS 90 mode from a workstation, though I can at the server. From the desktop I get a login in prompt and then the pvxwin32.exe just hangs. Have to kill it in Task Manager. Thoughts?

If you can run it in MAS 90 mode from server, but not workstation, I'd check permissions. Maybe the rights didn't propagate correctly? Also, check the port number you're using for the install. Maybe there's a port conflict? I don't see any compatibility issues with 2008 R2.

I think it is an issue with the MAS 200 keys. Are they the exact on the old machine? Can you copy the old server crashed version over and then run mas90 style?

We had restored from a backup. THe problem was the port number. 10000 wouldn't work, but 9880 did. Windows FIrewall was disabled on everything. It was running on 10000 on the old server.

I found this document on the portal. Hasn't been updated in over a year, but it's what's current up there. Version 5 not on the list.
