MAS 200 4.4 GL Exchange ""Source File cannot be opened"" error. File in Excel 97-2003 format (.xls) is in MAS90\Home\textout, it is not open in Excel, service is running as a domain account, added Everyone full control to the file permissions. Customer does not own VI. What else could be the problem?

I've always had better luck with .CSV file.

Was this working previously? If not, I agree with @NancyHanson, always use comma or tab (preferred) files. Save some hair!

I""m wondering if it's like VI and it has to be the old Excel 4.0 format, if you are using Excel. (pre multiple pages)

I have another customer who has been using it with Excel files successfully for years.

FWIW, I usually check to see if the server itself has the file locked. Administrative tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Shared Folders > Open Files. This has gotten me around rebooting a server many times.

When it works, it works. When it doesn't, it doesn't.

I had one where it didn't work as CSV but did as XLS. Go figure.
