  • 1.  Making IRP work more like MRP and explode BoMs

    Posted 06-23-2023 12:18

Has anyone come up with a creative way to make IRP behave more like MRP? Namely explode item Bills of Materials and report on component shortages?

Client upgraded to Premium and - SURPRISE! - turns out one user in one location had been using MRP for planning. Yeah I know...

Unless there is something I am missing it seems that IRP ignores any item that is a make item, and does not explode BoM components.

I thought about using the BM Component Requirements Report. It would be great if it could pre-populate the list of items to report if the Item Qty Available less Projected Demands is less than zero.

    Thoughts?

Good topic for the Sage development team next month (again, and again and again.)

    Greg,

What version of Sage 100/IRP are they using? I know there were improvements in 2022 PU2 and 2023 to make it work more like the old MRP. It now allows for projected demands and warehouse groups.  If you create projected demands for finished goods I believe that it explodes the BOMs and creates demand on the component items. below is my IRP screen from 2023. I'm not sure if that answers your question/issue though.

Sorry, @David Overholtfailed to mention that. They are upgrading to 2022 PU2 and are locked into that version because of custom code, enhancements and integrated applications.
