Short version:  We're looking to see if there are any enhancements that take item dimensional data and apply dimensions of shipping cartons and prints out picking sheets for each carton that must be packed.
TLDR: This is a mail order company that needs not only this but multiple ship to's on one Sales Order.  My first thought was that in 2019, all the functions of a catalog system are probably handled within the administration pieces of the website shopping cart.  i wasn't even sure if 'mail order systems' exist anymore. But given the complexity, i wonder if it needs to be done in Sage 100, in conduction with the scanning solution that will ultimately be selected. I see SO-1067 on Nicole's DSD Enhanecment spreadsheet.  Thank you so much for that!  That may solve ONE issue.

If you don't find any suggestions here, there probably aren't any decent ones. Then what will you do?

Try proposing a paying project to find a solution to their costly problem. First, hang a ballpark cost on "doing nothing," including the opportunity costs of not doing better for the customers. If they are interested, offer a project with 3 levels of results: Needs assessment, finding 3 reasonable candidates, and guiding them through the demo-presentation-analysis process. It's quite likely this means the solution is outside of Sage 100, but ... they'll figure that out sooner or later.

I'm happy to discuss this with you if you're interested in exploring.

The mentoring I've gotten from 90 Mindsers is incredible.  No one HAS to take time out to lend such help, but they always do! Case in point.
Thank you, Jerry. We've set a limit on how much we'll investigate this and website help etc (Must keep it to very little.  I've been listening!)  And then we'll need our good/better/best, quote, you're right. Probably sooner than I want to.  We're pinging the scanning folks to see if they've run into such situations.  My gut tells me this will need to be custom code, and probably from the scanning folks.  And by the time they write it, ti'll be a valuable enhancement that my client will need to decide if they want to pay the R&D costs on. LOL

    Rhonda, Thanks!

I might be misunderstanding your post, but I think it's a mistake to talk with the customer only about Sage 100-based solutions. If you offer them the chance to look outside their current platform and they decline, then they will be all the more agreeable to the tough solutions you will offer on Sage. If they take you up on looking elsewhere, then you have hit a nerve that was tender already, and you can then positively deal with it.

In my experience, a customer like this often eventually feels like their Sage partner is trying to either limit their search or strong-arm them into expensive fixes. By actively encouraging them to look (with you!) at outside possibilities you will change that attitude to be a more trusting sort.

Believe it or not, we told them they already had bought the right package and they don't want to finish that implementation.  In fact, we've mentioned that repeatedly. :-D But the current decision maker likes Sage 100 and us, and is digging in on that.  So our ballparks get another add-in added every time we learn more about their needs. We're talking to Scanco, and may reach out to ScanForce too.  And based on @Wayne Schulz's suggestion, it looks like we may have a 3rd option!  How about that!

Try emailing david.horowitz@swktech.com  - he manages the Accellos practice at SWK.  If Scanco or Scanforce don't have this capability it might be worth checking with David. He managed an implementation at Accellos for one of my customers. While Accellos is more expensive and complex if Accellos will  help with this packaging issue it may be an option.

I don't know if Accellos is an option but David will.
