Had a client email me this - it's all Charlie Brown "wah wah wah" to me.  Anyone know?

Good evening.  I hope all is well.  Do any of your customers have Sage100 windows clients accessing the Sage server over a low latency WAN?  The use-case for XXXX would be a 200mbps AzureExpress route.  I was curious to their experience... It would be 10ms or less latency.

"Latency" is a measure of the signal delays in a network. The more data needed to complete an operation the more you will notice the latency.

Client-server versions of Sage 100 send far less data through the network than Standard. But if they really want latency-free operations, a terminal server approach is what they want.

To me, the way this question is phrased from the customer leads me to question either the practical competence or the motives of the IT guy who is servicing a company's business network -- not all network apps have to be browser-based!

    Dear Client,

All of my customers are urged to follow the supported platforms guidelines as published by Sage here .

While some users may report success using un-supported / un-tested environments, you should know that any issues with those environments including slow speed, data corruption, dropped connections, etc. are not supported by our company or Sage.

    Love,

    Your Sage VAR

For users that are not working on the same physical LAN as the Sage 100 server our recommendation is to use a terminal server instead of trying to run the Sage 100 workstation software remotely.  Even using the "low speed connection" option with Advanced / Premium, some things will be slow (printing, Sage Intelligence...) over a WAN link.

Perhaps it is time for Sage to say goodbye to the 90's by removing that era's functionality that is deemed useless 30 years later.
