I understand that the initial releases of web-enabled access are for the mobile applications, but it is implied this is going to be done for other functions as well. I personally don't care if an ERP (such as Sage 100) is web-enabled, but competitively this becomes necessary, and for 300 CRE this must be the case. So why doesn't Sage have a similar initiative for Sage 100 ERP? They would have to do it quickly, because this 12, 18, 24 month stuff doesn't work. They end up being behind again upon release and the market has moved on.
I personally think the roadmap for Sage 100 contains projects that are seemingly to keep us and the users happy and on the product. To better deploy resources and dollars, I would have scrapped the Payroll and made all users go to Sage Payroll Services at a similar price as the current subscription for current users. That way they build a strong base of users and there is one solution for all products. As for Work Order, Job Cost and related modules going to framework, why bother? They aren't going to necessarily add or improve those products significantly, so we are stuck with the same basic functions. I know this is a controversial subject, but they could rework some of JobOps (Sage Manufacturing) to come up with something that did much more and probably get better value for their dollars. And while they are at it, just buy JobOps so we don't have to put up with the frugal, resource poor organization that is presenting us with delay after delay in their development efforts.
And, yes, I'd like to see a web-enabled Sage 100, so that is not a factor when selling. But it has to be in a very short time - under a year. I'm sure there are plenty of young, talented programmers in India who need the work.
