Looks as if BlackBerry have reached the end of the line. When you explore strategic alternatives that is shorthand for ""nobody wanted to buy us"" .... and now they'll figure out ways to repackage some or all of the company. This is going to be the end. http://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/2013/08/12/blackberry-to-explore-strategic-alternatives/?test=latestnews

Looks like it is finally time to replace my 9130 with a Windows phone.

From one dead end to another...

I have a Nokia 928 - great phone. Lacks apps but great phone.

I knew my comment would stir the pot a little. :-) Microsoft has the Nokia Lumia 521 for $129 ( for TMobile). I have TMobile. Its a Windows phone. Is the 928 a Windows phone?

I can't bring myself to buy ANYTHING Apple.... I also have a Surface Pro 128 and love it. IMO Iphones and Ipads are over-hyped and over-priced.

Macs and iPhones are nice and all, but I still can't bring myself to pay Apple's prices. I had a windows phone 7 or 8 years ago, and I kept it for nearly 3 years, and it was still a great phone when I passed it to my wife. When I came to this company, they handed me a fairly new BlackBerry to use, and I was sad to lose the windows phone. It was way more functional than the BB.

@PhilMcIntosh - I looked at the Samsung S4 - they want like $600... uhhhhh no..... Just give me email, web, a few good apps and a decent camera as well as maximum compatibility with Windows.

So get an S3 - Never buy something that still has the ""this is the latest and coolest"" pricing attached.

@DougHiggs Which carrier? Some kind of prepaid? With a contract carrier you can find S4 for between $99 and $200. I had S1, S2, S3 and now S4. S4 is overall materially better than S3.

I was in Walmart yesterday and saw the Nokia 521 prepaid. I believe you can marry that with the famed $30 T-Mobile PPD plan which is great so long as you don't use over 100 minutes of voice.

Thanks for the good info guys. @MarkChinsky -I use TMobile... no contract... $50 /month for everything I need. @WayneSchulz - I get 2000 anytime minutes a month plus unlimited text and 500MB of data. I am leaning heavily toward purchasing the 521 from MS for $129.

500mb of data isn't going to go very far in the Windows or Android world. Once you get used to it (especially if they have decent speeds) I think you'll use something closer to 1.5 gigs.

@DougHiggs check this out - http://www.straighttalkbyop.com/ - uses T-Mobile as the backbone carrier

@WayneSchulz - That looks great. Unlimited for less than I pay now for the same T-Mobile service. I don't have a contract now so looks like I will switch to this. Thank you!
