Looking for some help with Sage 3.74 SQL version, client installation problem. This client has unsupported servers, Sage SQL and Sage CRM . As time goes by, supporting them becomes ever more Mission Impossible. The recently purchased 3 new PCs with Win 7 OS. Two PCs are launching the Sage SQL application with no issues and the 3rd just won't install properly. All 3 PCs have the same OS. The installation fails when the SQL server name is being asked for. This is an orphan client and nobody knows the passwords for the Mas_Reports and Mas200_User accounts. I don't want to start messing around in SQL and run the risk of causing more issues. Does anyone have experience working with this old SQL version, do I need to create a SQL ODBC connection on the workstation client before running the client installation? That wasn't necessary on the 2 PCs that are working but I can't see anything different between the 2 that work and this one that's problematic. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might run Cliconfg.exe and verify that TCP/IP is enabled SQL protocol on the workstation. The utility is ran on the workstation and not the server. Also - check windows firewall and other AV Products. I would disable both while you install. You have to be a logged in as a local administrator for the cliconfg.exe changes to take effect.

I already checked windows firewall and made sure the SQL port and sage host port were allowed. Where is the Cliconfg.exe file located, is it on the server and I just need to browse to it from the workstation?

It should be on the workstation. Also - DNS set the same IP address and the same order for all of the workstations.
