I have two needs that relate to photos.  1) Is there a system that allows you to tag a person's name next to their face in a group photo. Just like FB when you can "tag" yourself in a group photo. Program will also need to be able to transfer "tags" when a group photo is cropped into smaller photos.

    2) A family member has about 6 years of photos of international travel on her iPhone. The photos have been copied each time her iPhone was upgraded to the new model. Is there a program that will a) copy ALL photos off her iPhone and transfer to a computer, and b) help organize the photos into folders or albums by year and destination, that she can then cast to her smart TV for viewing?

    Thank for any suggestions.

I don't know about the tag being portable ( ie, if you copy the photo somewhere else, then I do not think tags follow); however, I believe both Google Photos and Apple Photos allow you to tag people, and from that point forward you can find them in photos including groups.

I attended a CPA socitety tech conference put on by K2 Enterprises.  This was covered in one of the break out sessions.(The Digital Home).  Since the class notes were not specific enough, I emailed the presenter.  Below was his response.

Sure thing, I'd be happy to help. Yep, I'm pretty sure I presented this session. The application you're thinking about is Google Photos, https://www.google.com/photos/about/. It's a wonderful tool, and I'm really happy with the performance. The face and location detection is fantastic!

Keep us posted on how your adventure pans out.

Thanks @Wayne Schulz and @Jeff Schwenk for the recommendation. I will give Google Photos a try to tag people in my group photos. It looks like I found my other solution with a USB thumb drive called "PhotoStick Omni". Pulls photos off an iPhone and then you can transfer to a Windows laptop. Includes some type of organization and duplicate detection software. On SALE now for less than $75.00.
