Looking for Sage 100 SEI Reference.

  • 1.  Looking for Sage 100 SEI Reference.

Had an SEI demonstration for Sage 100 user.  It went well.  But Sage is not giving me a warm fuzzy feel about providing any Sage 100 references!

Does anyone have one that that I could pass on to prospect?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm disappointed that there were not answers to this. Does this mean no one has Sage 100 end users using SEI?

Thanks @Douglas Luchansky .  The SEI folks say they have a lot of SEI installs in X3 and Sage 300 with a few in Sage100.  I have explained this to my prospect and that there is NO difference in SEI functionality once the data has been extracted from whatever database is being used.  They very much want to talk to a Sage 100 installation.  SAGE seems unable to find an install................  The client really doesn't want to be a pioneer.

Hello Jeff...wondering if you went with SEI for your Sage 100 customer? I am at the moment considering SEI vs DataSelf...but the implementation costs for DataSelf are too high for customer's budget.  Trying to get feedback on SEI...

We had a client purchase it in full, perpetual license, second year in quit using it.  Sage 100 Premium, large company, their support was not good, often 4-5 days to get a response to an issue, training was not Q&A more here is how it works and meeting over.  I'll be honest it wasn't a good experience for our Sage 100 client. You could tell they didn't have a lot of experience with Sage 100..

The issue is DataSelf's implementation costs were triple SEI's

I was thinking the same.  When end users are short-sighted, aka penny wise and pound foolish, the chances of dissatisfaction increases exponentially.  Invest in the implementation, training, and support.  It may save a lot of wasted time and effort trying to use software that isn't living up to it's potential.

From the presentation I watched I thought SEI was pretty much DIY for designing reports / dashboards (meaning you need to pay someone to do that), where DataSelf has it's plain language queries to make that not needed.

I don't have any skin in this game, but I have brought several of my higher end SI users to the SEI demonstration table.  Have they outgrown SI?  The key to this battle is determining where the value points are.  If the client doesn't realize any value payback, they aren't going to do anything.... (but complain???).  I try to position SEI (and others) of transforming financial reports and the budgeting process (getting department heads involved).  Still coming up short.  Reach out to Olivia Brown and discuss your concerns.  Implementations fail for so many reasons.  Usually because users under estimate the change required and over estimate their abilities.  Change is hard work.

I think you are exactly right.  So SEI said it's not complicated and did training with the client.  Then when the client had questions SEI made them come thru us to create the ticket with SEI and troubleshoot the problems/questions.  So really the only way for us to help was to take the time to become an expert on the software, which the client didn't want to wait for us to skill up and or pay for that, and truthfully, we didn't see the sales volume at the price point so really didn't want to skill up for the solution, just didn't see it selling enough.  This was also during the push for Power Bi which was coming in at a much more realistic price point and we already had the skillset to generate SQL data warehouse's etc... so clients could start building a lot on their own which worked well.
