Sage 100

**Looking for clarification re: upgrading to Sage Payroll 2.0 _without_ upgrading to v2018.** The attached 'Installation and Upgrade Guide' specifically states that ""you can install a new version of the Payroll module without upgrading your entire Sage 100 system"" (first paragraph on page 6 - Chapter 4). However, this is contradicted by the attached 12-19-17 e-mail from Sage, as well as the Sage Payroll download web page which states ""NOTE: Sage 100 2018 Product Update 1 is required to be installed prior to the Payroll Update 2.18.0."" If it is in fact possible, the next question will be which version(s) that applies to. #2018pioneer

My impression was that capability is only possible starting with Sage 100 2018, but I guess it's really PU1

You must be at least on V. 2018, then you can apply updates/upgrades to Payroll. From what I understood in the planning stages. there will be limits as to the upgrades of Payroll on a particular version of Sage 100(c).

So it's looking like that above sentence in the install/upgrade guide is just simply incorrect.

In the certification video they said in a future release they will be unlinked but currently that are still linked.

My take is Sage plans to be able to allow you to update payroll independently of the rest of the Sage 100 app. But you have to be on at least Sage 100 6.0 (2018) and you must convert to PR 2.0 to continue to use payroll on Sage 100 6.0 or higher.

I won't be holding my breath that Payroll 2.0 will be truly independent of version anytime before our collective retirements.
