Sage 100

Looking for a way to keep users from creating new form codes in Sage 100. Any thoughts?

One way is not to have Crystal installed on the workstation. Might look in Role Security as well

Following.... as I believe you are asking about creating forms in the printing areas in Sage 100 (Sales Order Printing, etc). I have a client that the users continually will type in a form code vs clicking on it through the lookup and creates new form codes all the time. If anyone has a way to stop this, would love to hear it. :-)

Are we talking forms or forms codes? Not sure if having Crystal installed makes any difference. My users can certainly muck things up with form codes and they don't have Crystal. Would think role security but I don't see anything.

So far, I have not found a way to stop users from doing this and have not found anything in security to prevent it.

Form Codes. They are having difficulty keeping users from creating new one's ""by accident"". I don't see anything in security, either.

This is something that would be a great thing for Sage to address, as well as having Sage100 not default to ""STANDARD"" for new users, etc. if one or more custom forms have been defined...

If you find an answer let me know. I feel like I've been asking (and asked) this question for years.

You can edit the screen in customizer, can you just create a custom panel for those users without access?

How would they change form codes? Many have long used that form code screen as a way to create variations for multiple types of orders/shipments.

Definitely an issue in need of a security role.

You can set a Data Validation list in Customizer for the form code field. This will allow one to restrict new codes from being added while allowing existing codes to be selected.

Dan, thank you for that great idea. I should have included in my original statement, this is for Shipping Data Entry Packing List Printing. I don't see any way to customize this panel. We can on the Sales Order Printing panel, but not packing list.

Dan -Sent Robert an ""unsanctioned"" idea that would let him use your Data Validation list idea. He's trying it out. If it doesn't work, it wasn't worth mentioning anyway :) and if it does I'll definitely share it.

Dan and Robert - Can you review this Word doc and make any edits as you see fit. Robert when you implement this live I'm thinking you may run into a few kinks along the way you may need to adjust.

Works exactly like the similar screens form validation parameters. No odd messages or behavior. I am wondering why they chose to make this screen 'customize=no'.

I was pretty sure there is an option in role maintenance,,,..will nned to look for it...

I though the allow access to Crystal designer would limit that option

The table entries for a new form code (stores options, unlike Standard) does not require a custom crystal report.

Yes I think the issue is that people are doing heads down data entry and mistakenly begin entering in the form code field. Then they tab out of it and somehow a new form code is created. I see that a lot. The people who create them generally don't have Crystal Access.
