I received the following email from the customer's IT company today:

"We'll need to talk about how we're going to set this up on the new server because we'll be moving the customer to OneDrive for storing local folder copies instead of Redirected folders.  Since Sage folders are currently in Redirected folders, we'll have to adjust for this accordingly."

The IT company is preparing a new Domain controller and Sage 100 server and was doing some work over the weekend. I get a call this morning that all users are receiving an error message and no one can get into Sage 100.

I've never seen (or I didn't know about it) a Sage 100 installation where the local folders are re-directed to OneDrive.  Has anyone encountered this?  I'm speculating this is trouble, particularly performance trouble.

I don't think this is related to your issue but Dan and I have seen an issue with v2021 when One Drive was synchronizing our local ..\documents\sage 100

Like you, I haven't seen this done before so don't know where the issue might be or even if it's possible to use OneDrive to store Sage 100. One possibility is whether they have the save space and download files on-demand option enabled.

I'd be curious what the details button showed though I'm not optimistic it's going to be super helpful

IT was able to fix the error by re-enabling the local folder redirection.  I believe they disabled it over the weekend and changed the strategy to using OneDrive for local folders, including the user\xxx\documents]Sage 100 folders.

I remember seeing your post and now I am suspicious that using OneDrive could be asking for trouble.  At the minimum, I believe if they change from redirected folders to OneDrive that workstation setup will need to be re-run to get past the .NET error message.

I wonder if anyone else has seen this.  I imagine that using OneDrive for local folders is or may become common practice for IT.
