@Douglas Luchansky We used to exclusively install Sage on Linux servers for customers and it worked great. We stopped because of the liability issues of it not being officially supported by Sage.

I've never installed it on Linux, and I don't believe Sage supports it in that environment.
My personal opinion though, is to stay away from this kind of setup. If Sage cannot be built from source natively, or have existing packages (i.e: an RPM or similar), that only means that it has to be installed in some sort of virtualized layer within Linux on top of the core OS, which will introduce a whole slew of unknowns in case of a problem.
