Level III credit card processing - What does it REALLY DO? Client called saying APS was recommending that they put ANYTHING in the Corporate ID/PO field, that her reseller could probably script something to autofill and they would get a slightly better rate. Can anyone explain this for me? TIA

@JeffSchwenk - this is a link to the APS blog site where Bryce Deeny did a pretty good job explaining the level 3 data. http://creditcardprocessing.apsmerchants.com/blog/level-3-credit-card-processing It is still a little unclear to me but basically, Level 3 data is related to business to business credit card transactions or governmental credit card transactions. Level 3 requires a lot of info that is currently in sales order. That Corporate PO/ID is a field where something has to be there so that you can get to the other level 3 fields that are showed in the blog. APS handles level 3 data differently than SPS does. SPS seems to require data about each line item on a SO where APS does not appear to require it. I would recommend to any reseller that you reach out to APS and have them update you on how MAS handles level 3 compared to SPS.

Hey @JeffSchwenk, I have already written a script which will fill in the corporate ID/PO Number field on the payments screen if you would like to see it. Level III saves a whole lot of money so it's worth using it when possible. To qualify for Level III, the card has to be a corporate buying card and the transaction has to include the Corporate ID/PO Number (which is non-validated). The transaction also includes the detail line items on the document and commodity code information which identifies the categories of items being sold. Once the system is set up for Level III it is very easy to save that money.

Seems like a whole lotta nothing. Client is a B to C seller. They have VERY few corporate accounts (if any). What is the approximate savings (%age) by going the extra mile??

@RebekahVeuger, A tentacle could be far more useful than a client on many occasions. Besides, all of us have clients, but how many actually have tentacles? I have tried to attach a text version of the script. The instructions are embedded in it. Note that this script also forces the ""Save Card"" flag to ""Y"", which you may not want.

    Attachment(s)

    txt
    DefaultCorporateID.txt   724 B 1 version

@JeffSchwenk, it took me about five minutes to attach that script. Since this is a negative revenue situation, I suppose you now owe me a minute or so, but I'll let it slide this time in exchange for your excellent management of our mutual customer relationship.

Just so you don't call me salesperson or else I would have to put the ""squeeze"" on you.
