Has anyone encountered this?  Client using True Commerce EDI Transaction Manager blew this error this AM.  TC is not being very cooperative in fixing their issue.

Your request for assistance has been received. Case #12776015 - "LastError: Module J/C is not on file" has been created for you.

    Hey Shelbie,
Today you found that when you tried exporting to Sage, you were getting the error: "LastError: Module J/C is not on file"   I actually had a different customer receive this same error yesterday -- I confirmed with the Integrations team that this is an error coming from Sage and that Sage support will be able to fix that up. I unfortunately do not know the context of it, but they will be able to help you on that side.  Please let me know if anything else comes up and have a good rest of the day!  Thanks,   George Kipilo | Technical Support Specialist I, Service Desk

If they have TC and Avalara, and they have Sage100 Advanced (or Premium) - here is the issue:

On Sage100 advanced, you need to copy the AVATAX folder from mas90 to the "C:\" on the server and register the com object.
This is because the programs really run on the server.

On Sage100 Standard, you have to do it on each PC, as the programs run on the PC.

With TC, even if it is advanced or premium, the TC program runs locally, so copy the avatax from the mas90 to the c:\ of where the truecommerce is running, and register it (you need admin rights to run the batch file to register it)

Then the JC message will go away

    (we had this exact issue)

Case solved somewhat.  Went to another workstation to run TM imports and exports.  Worked.  Moving to v2019 tomorrow hopefully.  Hope it doesn't come back....

Jeff, I have a customer using TC and Avalara (Sage100 Advanced) and every time they buy a new workstation this error comes up. I think I called TC like 7 or 8 times in the last 2 years. It started when we started getting windows 10 pc’s. I call TC and they pretend this never happened before, then they spend two hours trying to fix it. It’s never the same fix. The Avatax trick works but not every time. They reinstall their software on the pc, on the Server, register avatax, try different browsers and on and on. Mostly they say it’s a Sage issue, even though it’s running perfectly fine on another PC. I have pages of notes of what they try each time. Once, I got Sage and TC on the same session and they started blaming each other. We still don’t have a good solution and I dread it when this customer gets a new pc. I think I posted something on here about a year ago with the same issue.

I had this exact same issue with another TC/Avatax client of mine and informed TC Support of the resolution once I figured out. I guess they chose not to update their internal notes. The key was to make sure .NET 3.5 was enabled.  Here were the steps I sent to my team:

    1. Enable/install .NET Framework 3.5 on both the server and any client machines encountering the error/issue.
    2. Copy the "Avatax" folder from the ..\MAS90 directory on the server to the local workstation's C: drive, then browse to C:\Avatax, right-click on the register_for_com.bat file and select Run As Administrator.
    3. If you see anything different than a successful message, perform these steps to properly perform the .dll registration:
      1. Replace the text in the register_for_com file with C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe avalara.avatax.adapter.dll /tlb /codebase
      2.  If you have both a SQL server AND a Terminal server this needs to be done on the SQL server as well. If you do not see the registered successfully message, run the command prompt as administrator to register the dll:
    1. Type "cd c:\AvaTax\" and press enter. This is the default path, it can be different depending on the path used for the install of that specific workstation.
    2. Type Register_for_com.batand press enter.
    • Wait until you receive the "registered successfully" message
      1. To run the command prompt as administrator:
    1. Click Start.
    2. In the Start Searchbox, type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
    • In the User Account Controldialog box, click Continue.
      1. If you get a "RegAsm: error" run the command prompt as an admin, and have it open before running the batch file.

I have an open ticket with Avalara right now that involves an import from QuoteWerks to sales order or purchase order. Below is the error message. I've gone through the various steps outlined and registered the dll's using the batch files, but the error persists. I don't think .Net framework 3.5 is installed on the workstation that I'm dealing with and will check that out tomorrow.

I had the exact same problem last year, with this same client, prior to them going live on Sage 2018, this time the problem was on an RDS server not an individual user machine. The dll registration resolved the problem in this case, but that could be down to the fact that the RDS server probably had .Net 3.5 installed.

As a follow up to this message. I had followed all the steps that @Amber Prayfrock outlined, with the exception of .Net 3.5. This was a Win10 machine and therefore .Net 4.8 was the default. After installing .Net 3.5 the import from QuoteWerks was successful.

    Thanks @Amber Prayfrock
