KnowledgeSync SMTP issue

  • 1.  KnowledgeSync SMTP issue

    Anyone else having problems with KnowledgeSync regarding email errors? I think it is related to a Windows update but the customer's IT guy says it wasn't installed on the KS server. They haven't had any reports/event emails since 10/8. The first error is "ActiveX component can't create object" and the second "General SMTP Mail Failure, check setup = 6000". Anyone??

    @Therese Logeais The 6000 means it can't see the server. Are KS and Sage on the Same server? If so, check the ODBC DNS Settings and make sure they test ok. Maybe try IP vs. DNS if not

    What email are they using? In House or O365?

    Yes, I saw those @Michelle Forsey. The two RDO components don't exist. There was no move and it has been working until two days ago. The ODBC connection tests successfully. I believe they are using O365.

    And the events are running successfully - except for the emailing! All reports/files are in the Attachments folder.

    Shot in the dark - I doubt is has anything to do with odbc as this is the connection to the data.  It seems this may be a connection to the O365 server.  Make sure smtp.office365.com is in the dns and port 587 and 25 is open on the firewall.

    Do they have any events that don't have reports that are running okay? Can you maybe try creating an event that just sends a list of open invoices or something like that see if those go?

    We've had repeated issues with KS at one customer, where the only resolution is to reboot the server.  Absolutely nothing we do helps until that is done.

    It's not the report generation. It's the emailing. I have an event scheduled daily to email me if it's working. Just an email and that is not working. I'm going to ask him to reboot this server (it's not the Sage 100 server).

    Yes... sometimes the issues are cryptic SMTP errors.
    (I always find troubleshooting KS to be difficult).

    OMG, after a long afternoon of testing VineyardSoft's diagnostic tests (with mixed results and they REFUSE to pick up the phone and call me), I finally was able to reboot the server tonight and voila! I am now receiving emails from KS!!

    Had something similar to that with an upgrade about two weeks ago.

    In final testing and suddenly discovered that KS could not e-mail.  Then discovered that Sage 100 couldn't e-mail either.

    That was Saturday afternoon (so no tech support available).  I believe I let the server reboot and gave up for the day.  Came back in the morning and all was well.
