KnowledgeSync question - Can you create an alert with a run time prompt? Occasionally, the customer's alert will fail to run. Since the selection criteria is based on the server date, I sometimes just change the server date (after hours), run the alert then correct the date. Looking for a way so I don't have to mess with the server date.

There is a Run Now button. Highlight the Alert and then click the Run Now button on the menu bar and it will run immeditely.

That is the easy part. is there a way to get it to prompt you for a parameter when you run it or do we modify the parameter criteria, save it and then run it.

I'm not aware any run-time parameters. I did a quick search in the KS manual, and I didn't find anything in there either.

Since the queries are meant to run without user assistance there is no run time prompt feature.

Couldn't you use the e-mail response system?

Not sure what you mean.

KnowledgeSync has an e-mail response system. You send it an e-mail formatted a specific way and it triggers an event. I've never used it but you may be able to send KnowledgeSync an e-mail with the subject line ""customer alert 2/22/2012"" and it may be able to run the customer's alert for 2/22/2012.

Interesting thought.

When you create the query, on the filters tab where you are comparing the MAS date to the system date, you should be able to substitute a ""?"" for the system date parameter and I believe that it will prompt you when you run the event. Maybe you could create a second query like this and just run it when the original one fails to run.

John, that is my intent. I want the second alert to run whenever end user has noticed the original alert failed to run. Usually, they notice a day or two later.

John is right about the ?, however the prompt must be satisfied inside the event. KS will not prompt for the date at run time. This will work if they will open the event and enter the date in the query tab, then run the alert.

@JeffSchwenk, on the schedule page, there's a ""Trigger this event when another event is triggered"" (not the exact words, but I'm not where I can look at it at the momoent). Could you use that?

Thanks to all. I changed the orignial alert to run at 2 AM selecting transactions dated ""yesterday"" instead of running the alert at 6PM pulling transactions dated ""today"". This will give us additional time to rerun the alert if it fails without changing any parameters. Secondly, I made a copy of the alert so if I have to run it for a specific date, I can change the parameter for that one without messing with the automactic one.
