I was told yesterday that Kissinger will not be providing their ACH Direct Deposit for payroll for Sage 100 2019.  They will be sending out an email to inform everyone.  I only have one client that has used Sage's Direct Deposit and had a lot of issues with it in addition to the costs.  They were so frustrated that they discontinued using it.  Does anyone have other options and/or recommendations?

Just use the manual configuration in Sage.  They upload it to the bank like they did the Kissinger.

That’s what we do...using the manual one that comes with Sage. And it works just fine!

I advise customers to use the "old school" Sage ACH which requires that they update the .ACH file. My understanding is that the old Sage Payroll ( which Sage sold) was providing the paid ACH. I'm not sure what the future of that paid service will be but I'm not starting any customers on it.

    ACH Direct Product Discontinuation Announcement
    For resellers of ACH Direct

    Executive Summary:

    • Due to comparable direct deposit processing functionality in the Sage 100 Payroll module (2018 and 2019 releases), Kissinger Solutions has determined that ACH Direct for Sage 100 2017 will be the last release.
    • Users of Sage 100 2017 and ACH Direct should be aware that Sage will issue the last Tax Table Update for Sage 100 2017 on 1/31/2020 and will discontinue phone support for Sage 100 2017 on 9/30/2020.
    • Kissinger Solutions will continue to provide ACH Direct support and maintenance for users on Sage 100 2017, however, Kissinger will be unable to procure support services from Sage for Sage 100 2017 after 9/30/2020*.
    • Upon upgrading to Sage 100 2018 or 2019, the Sage 100 Payroll module's built-in direct deposit processing features can be used to provide employees with payroll direct deposit.

    Dear Brett,

We are reaching out to you as a reseller of the ACH Direct enhancement software for Sage 100 with important information about ACH Direct.

As you may already be aware, Sage has announced a 9/30/2020 phone support retirement date for the 2017 release of Sage 100. The 2017 release was the last Sage 100 release to require the use of ACH Direct (or another extended solution) to provide users with the conveniences of payroll direct deposit.

The 2018 and 2019 releases of Sage 100 include comparable functionality to that which has been provided by ACH Direct. Now that this functionality is included as part of the Sage 100 Payroll subscription, at no additional cost to the Sage Payroll module user, ACH Direct users who have upgraded to Sage 100 2018 or 2019 have made the switch to the direct deposit capabilities of the Payroll module itself.

If your Sage 100 customers using ACH Direct have not yet upgraded to the 2018 or 2019 Sage 100 payroll module, please be advised that it will be necessary for them to make the switch from ACH Direct to the Payroll module's built in direct deposit processing when they do upgrade; ACH Direct will not be available for use with Sage 100 2018, Sage 100 2019, or future releases.

Beause we know that some users may not have the ability to upgrade right away, Kissinger Associates will continue to provide support and maintenance for ACH Direct users on earlier releases.*

We will be emailing this information directly to ACH Direct users soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this email or contact me using the number below. We appreciate your relationship with Kissinger Solutions and look forward to serving you in the future.

    Sincerely,

    Diane Schultz

*Sage Payroll tax table updates are not provided for unsupported levels and the last tax table update for Sage 100 2017 is scheduled for 1/31/2020. Sage phone support will be discontinued for Sage 100 2017 on 9/30/2020, however, Sage indicates that access to the Sage Online Support Knowledgebase will continue to be avaiable.

I reached out to two people at Kissinger when this first was posted and neither responded. One was Diane Schultz.

I can't say I'm overwhelmed with surprise since this announcement seems to imply there had not been an ACH Direct update since Sage 100 2017.

That would be true, Wayne – v2017 was the last Direct Deposit version that Kissinger released.  I think since the Sage Direct Deposit that is built into Payroll now works very similarly to the Kissinger Direct Deposit, it didn't make sense to continuing using Kissinger DD.  I'm sure we would have continued our renewals for Kissinger's product had there been a version for 2018, but in the absence of a version compatible with Payroll 2.0, we were forced to use the Sage DD, and have found it works just fine.

What year was the Sage Payroll ACH ( not the service but the export to a file version) added? I see in my notes that AP got ACH in 4.4. I think ACH for PR was around before that. I don't remember when ACH was bundled into Payroll. Or was it always there and Sage used to charge separately for ACH until they rolled out Payroll 2.x subscription?

The Sage Payroll ACH started being included in the Payroll module with V2015 PU4 when Sage made the Payroll module available only by subscription.  It was available quite awhile before that though – sold separately by Sage as an add-on.  (It might have been among the enhancements Alan Bryant sold to Sage way back when...)
