Just upgraded a customer from 4.3 to 2013 and everytime they try to create a new part number they received the message ""restocking method required"". RMA has never been installed. When I look at CI_Item the restock method is set to N for all current items so they can copy an item to create a new one. Any idea why this message would be popping up?

Look in the Product Line - this resolved my issue on an upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 Open ...MAS90\MAS_xxx\IMxxx\IM_ProductLine.M4T in Data File Display and Maintenance and assign a value for RestockingMethod$

Anyone know of a workaround to automate this via VI? Client has multiple companies with about 100 Product Lines in each company. VI yields a message that the field can't be edited/written to.

What version? Are you importing into the product line or the item master?

Brett look at this - it's not a complete post about how to do this but it may get you to a point where you can make the change. It deals with modifying the providex dictionary which is what I think VI is validating against.
