Just throwing this one out. Getting ready to upgrade a client from 4.3 to 2013. They have 56 company codes. Has anyone figured out how to do the file rebuilds for all companies (or at least more than one at a time)? Thankfully, this client is only GL and AP, but it's still mind-numbing activity.

What about maybe using something like Macro Express?

Call me a crazy outlaw but I've not regularly rebuilt every company that I've converted. Seldom an error. As a matter of fact I can't think of any.

Mostly I've done legacy modules only since 4.xx came out , but we haven't done any file maintenance or upgrade for this client in 4 years and I feel like an ounce of prevention could very well be worth a pound of cure.

I've just connected to customers system via GotoAssist several times, and started the rebuild on each session. You really have to see results on a per company basis and I'm not aware of any utility that'll aggregate rebuild results into a single log file (with sufficient detail).

I am with Wayne on this. I quit doing the file rebuilds for companies that have been pretty stable.

I usually assign that task to the client. They can rebuild as time allows and rebuild while they are doing other tasks. But with 56 companies, I would take Wayne's route and be an outlaw.

Thanks @JaneCavanaugh - I've been waiting all day for someone to actually call @WayneSchulz an outlaw!!

If there's an upgrade you don't want to go south, it's one with multiple companies. Any hangup/problem will delay future upgrades... which, by the way, are pretty lucrative with this type of customer.

I rarely rebuild unless I have errors after the initial test conversion
