Just received 2 emails both caught in junk and in the subject line is a password that I've used for a few accounts. Interesting demand of $2,900 dollars and they'll 'keep' it between us. Just be aware and use 2FA and distinct passwords. I hate the hassle but lucky it's not two many areas to update to new pwd.

This is a big scam that is going around. Apparently people use some type of stolen info from one of the thousands of breaches. Instead of hacking anything they send you an email trying to make you think they've hacked into your computer and as proof they show you a password. It's all a scam.

I agree it's a scam but it seems somewhat a serious thing as they have a legit password, right?

I mean to say ... people should take it seriously and reset their passwords, use 2FA and stop using the same password for everything.

I think anytime someone you don't know/trust has info you can change or make private it's in your best interest to do so.
