    Just had a request from a customer to setup a ""training mode"" for a customer service representative. They'd like these folks to be able to enter orders but not have them go to shipping until reviewed/approved. Off the top of my head I think only allowing them to create quotes might resolve this? Am I overlooking any other type of way to restrict a user from entering orders that then can be seen and shipped?

    Can you set a form for those users to have a status of hold that they can't change?

    Have a client that is similar. We put a UDF approval field in SO header that only an approver can see. If not checked, the shipping department can't ship.

    I was going to recommend the same option as @JeffSchwenk . Create a filtered ALE for shipping so they can't see Sales Order that have not been approved by a supervisor.

    You could use custom office to default the sales order status ""on hold"" and disable the field for order entry staff. This would prevent shipping until someone with access to the status field could change the status.

    This is basic missing functionality that shouldn't need a workaround

    @MarkChinsky I have another good one: There is no inventory transaction history retained when items are drop shipped (in either sales order or purchase order). I have been complaining about this for years. Companies today are drop shipping a greater percentage of orders. Sage promotes 100 ERP as a great fit for distribution facilities, yet unbelievably, drop ship transactions are not saved.

    Hmm, that never occurred to me. Reminds me of the issues of lost visibility when items are transferred to a job site in Job cost or the fact that AR invoices are stored differently than SO Invoices and thus require alot of manipulation to report on them together
