    Just got off the phone with Sage and they tell me there is no way to delete an item out of the system if it has any history. After speaking with an inventory data expert they tell me the only way to completely remove an item from any version of MAS after version 4.4, is to manually remove it from every table that begins with ""Item_"" I guess my bet option is to merge several hundred items together, and then manually delete it. Anyone have any other work-arounds?

    The merge option is the best option that I am aware of.

    We both know that Syspro's solution would be to first charge $2500.00 for a renumber utility that doesn't fully resolve the issue, then offer an implementation data expert/programmer for 3-5 days to be onsite at $300 per hour to fix this. Cha-Ching! They should throw in the bankruptcy paperwork... oops can anyone else see this?

    After merging could you just mark it as Inactive and leave it off all of the reports?

    So far as I'm aware this is how it's always worked and the workaround is one people us. It's been my experience that just as soon as a customer says ""go ahead and delete those 1,000 items we'll never need the data"" .... they need the data. YMMV

    I HATE deleting detail transactions. So much safer to merge. Information stays in the history files (albeit under a different number). Much easier to run history reports knowing that the numbers will balance.

    we have had the same experience, you can no longer use he delete utilities to delete inventory items. merging into one item is the only choice
