Wow, you really are trying to diversify your way out of the reseller world! Did the package come with a gun or fishing pole rack?

  • 16.  RE: Just got my new Rig :)4.4ghz Overclocked Quad Co

No gun or fishing rack. It will read to me new text messages. I wonder what would happen if I introduced it to Atlas?

And @MarkChinsky what do you plan on doing with all that power in a rig like that? Run NASA or play some mean games of MW3? Oh wait, maybe it is so solitaire with run faster?

@MyronStevenson - that would probably void the warranty

As long as I have Three Monitors - I'm Happy!

  • 28.  RE: Just got my new Rig :)4.4ghz Overclocked Quad Co

    Posted 03-15-2012 09:48
I used to have 2 1600x1200 4x3 monitors together. Personally I think thats the most productive layout. Now I have one 24"" 1920x1200 monitor. 16x9 and 16x10 I think is stupid other than for movies and gaming. Most documents we look at are vertical. My monitor does flip like yours but its too much of a pita to do regularly. The problem with your setup is they are too far apart so the gap between them and the head turning to me would be impractical. Your primary monitor is too small for gaming. I wish my damn eyesight wasn't going. I'm 46 (as of yesterday :( ) and I just can't read small text like I used to without reading glasses. My laptop has a 17"" display with 1920x1080 resolution and its near impossible to use at native resolution. I'm hoping my new ipad will do the proper scaling of text that Windows 7 does NOT do without changing resolutions at which point the whole screen gets kind of fuzzy vs. native.

    Posted 03-15-2012 19:29
I see your point with the spacing between the three monitors but it doesn't bother me. I tend to keep most important focus on main monitor, with documents and top websites (sage,gmail/voice/calendar) on portrait monitor, and additional RDP sessions on left monitor. The center monitor is a 27"" and other 2 are 24"" definitely not too small for gaming? I am a gamer tho (in my past life i worked in video game development) and have a gaming rig that has all bells and whistles and a 37"" hd panel. Unfortunately, I can sympathize with you about eyesight issues - as i just started running into issues with reading small text... Damn!

@MichaelBuscher Is that 27""? I bought a 28"" and returned it. What's the resolution? I bought a cheap 1080p unit and that is just way too little resolution for good PC work. Everything looked like it had jaggies. I know have a 24"" with 1920x1200 which is an excellent compromise. For gaming, I've found that if they get too big, you start loosing too much content outside of your peripheral vision. The ultimate is a 28"" or 30"" but one of those $1200 monitors with something like 2800x1200 I forget what it is but typical the Apple Cinema display or Dell Ultrasharp

Yeah - 27"" is fine for PC gaming - and two monitors are 1920x1200 2-3ms monitors. The one on the left is one of the latest 2560x1600 resolution monitors. At the distance i sit from the monitors (about 18-20"") - the 1920x1200 works fine for me. Of course if i want to game then bigger is better but i think i am pushing it a little with this 37"" panel for computer gaming, then i also have this HD projector for kick back web surfing / gaming. I have 4 PCs setup in this office so the kids and friends (and of course me) can do some LAN gaming on the weekends!

Just two - The big one and the little laptop monitor. Side by side. No unnecessary eye/head shoulder movement between them.

OK, @MichaelBuscher You have me beat on number of displays. Which one do you use for Bf3? From the pics, your speakers look a bit wimpy. I bought the Bose Companion 5 units which gives a pretty close surround sound experience with 2 front and a subwoofer. I don't have the logistics in my current room to mount rear speakers. These puppies crank and sound great on music and gaming. Whats your primary video card(s) for gaming? What kind of mouse, keyboard and joystick?

  • 38.  RE: Just got my new Rig :)4.4ghz Overclocked Quad Co

    Posted 03-19-2012 11:24
@MichaelBuscher It's wiered but when comparing your keyboard to your monitor in front vs. my keyboard to my 24"" monitor, your's just doesn't look 27"". Looks more like 24 or 25. I couldn't find 1920x1200 on anything anymore larger than 24"". Seems like its a production thing. Now everything seems to be 1920x1080. Probably to be made on the same lines as TV's.
