Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.5.0.4. Now all the custom form codes for Sales Order Printing and Sales Order Picking Sheet are gone. I can still see them in the folders under Reports\SO_SalesOrderPrinting but when a user hits the magnifying glass for form code, STANDARD is the only one there. I know bar code can cause this so I've uninstalled Bar Code. I've also tried to do the thing where you type in the form code and click the ""designer"" button to create the form. Nothing has worked. Stubborn thing. Any ideas?

How many are there? It might be quicker to manually create the form codes and then copy the existing forms.

Kate, What I do is copy the Reports folder to reports.save or something. Then go into the form, create the form Code as you already have it labeled, and as you mention by opening Designer, make a change and save the form. This creates the form code and form in the reports folder for the company code your in. Copy the form from the save reports folder and you should be good to go.

Hi Ron - I followed those steps and still the only form available in the lookup is standard. I know I've done your workaround before and it worked, just this one is extreamly stubborn. Brett - there are about 20 forms, but it doesn't appear that the manual form code creation is working. I even tried deleting them through report manager and re-creating but this thing is determined.

Kate, Are you working at a system with the Crystal Designer installed? If so, is that how you are trying to manually create the form codes?

Kate, are you able to save or modified a form in the folder MAS is installed?

I think Ron's probably on to it. Do you have create rights in the MAS report's folders?

  • 8.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

Hi Guys, I was able to make a new folder and add a text document to it, then delete everything. I also tested adding a file to an existing folder and it was allowed. The bizarre thing is that I deleted all the form codes (with a backup, of course) and then typed in new form codes in Sales Order Printing. I can see the folders I just created in reports\SO_SalesOrderPrinting but they just don't appear in the lookup. Is there some syzcon-like utility that i have to do to refresh the lookups?

Wow, that is strange. What happens if you go through MAS and create a new custom form code? Does it seem to work correctly and then just not show up on the form code lookup?

  • 10.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-05-2012 13:25
Exactly. It acts completely normal and then is just not in the lookup.

  • 11.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-05-2012 13:53
OK, is it just a lookup issue? If you type the form code does MAS act like it's a new form code again or does it act like it recognizes that form code?

  • 12.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-05-2012 13:55
It does recognize the form code and prints the customized form - so you are right, it is just a lookup issue.

I'm gonna say that's a good thing. Now we need a a hard core data ""geek""(meant in the nicest possible way.) to chime in here and tell us what file(s) need repaired/rebuilt, etc.

There isn't a customized lookup for the Report Setting List, is there?

Did you run the Lookup Conversion? I just ran into this with a customer going from 4.3 to 4.5.

  • 17.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-05-2012 15:07
Therese! I ran the lookup conversion and was treated to a lovely error. That error got Sage pointed in the direction of restoring SY1Q01, Q02, Q03, Q04, DD from an identical installation. I'm trying that now and I'll share the fall out but thanks to everyone!

Kate - have you tried adding the new form code and actually PRINTING with it? I know that sometimes I have to do that in AP Checks before the form code stays.

There are several tables in the MAS_System folder that store the report settings. Such as SY_ReportSetting.M4T. I am wondering if one of them has a bogus record that is preventing the lookup from working.

  • 23.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-05-2012 18:37
Well. Replacing the files from an identical installation (or from a backup) didn't work. I've printed with the forms and still the only form in the lookup is Standard. I've been through SY_ReportSetting, SY_ReportOption and SY_ReportManagerMaster. Nothing changes. I'm feeling like I need to reinstall a module or system setup or something.

I made the dreaded call. They have no idea. Waiting for call back. In the mean time, client is getting good at jusy typing in their form codes. Maybe I can convince them this is a new ""feature"" of 4.5

If you can convince them this is a new feature please share how, would be great for the Firm of the Future to know how to successfully turn a functionality, it does not work now from (it worked before) to a positive :)

*Update* I spoke with Ali at Sage and he advised me to try and restore the Providex.* files found in the root MAS90 folder. All the form codes (plus the 20 or so test form codes we had create trying to solve this thing) appeared. So no new ""feature"" I guess.

That's what I was thinking, Therese! Where'd you restore them from Kate?

I had a zipped backup of \MAS90 that I took before migrating the data (thank God)

Not yet. I'm going to talk to Ali again in an hour or so and I'll ask!

The providex.dcl is associated with certain lookups. I wonder if that got messed up at some point during the upgrade.

  • 37.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-07-2012 14:31
Hm. I wonder if that is the file causing an issue with a client on the lookup on invoices in Cash Receipts - the Balance field shows a date, etc.

  • 38.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-07-2012 14:32
Previously when the lookups were wacky, I did the SYZCON routine and that fixed them. Have you tried that?

  • 39.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-07-2012 14:36
Nope. Have never had whacky lookups before (except for the missing Shiptos, etc). Which SYZCON routine is it? (There are unfortunately so many to choose from.)

  • 40.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-07-2012 14:44
This is the one that worked for me: 1. From the MAS 90 Business Desktop go to File - Run - SYZCON (can also be run directly from the PVXWIN32.EXE file) 2. Type in o = new(""sy_activation_bus"",%sys_ss) then press the Enter Key 3. Type in print o'activate(""A/B"",""XXX"") then press the Enter Key {where A/B is the module and XXX is the company code - for example (""S/O"",""TST"")""} 4. You should see a return of ""1"", which indicates success.

  • 41.  RE: Just did an upgrade from MAS 200 4.3 to MAS 200 4.

    Posted 11-08-2012 03:42
Just a comment on that manual activation method you mention above - you can sometimes successfully run this from SYZCON, but I would highly recommend that you do not. Always run it from pvxwin32.exe - sometimes the activation process needs to update system files and when that happens, running from SYZCON will fail.
