Just converted to 2014 premium. Needed to several UDFs to item maintenance. Created a new tab titled ""Web2"", and added the UDFs. Tab is grayed out. Any idea why? If I add another tab before it then it becomes active. Seems like it may have something to do with the panel width.

Was there a True Commerce / HighJump installation involved at one point?

I belive I have figured it out... sort of. If item valuation is not LIFO or FIFO then the ""Cost detail"" tab is grayed out. In this case all items are at average cost. When a new tab is added the tab 7, cost detail becomes active and the new tab, tab 8 becomes grayed out (inactive). I have a work around.... adding an unused tab 8 and then tab 9 becomes active. Seems like a bug but don't have time to wait on hold for 45 minutes to find out.

Yes Alnoor, they do have TC. Is that interfering? I thought the TC customization was in SO.

I was just curious Doug to see if there was a pattern of behavior with TC. We have a client on 4.50 SQL where prior to the TC installation in A/R Customer Maintenance they added their own Tab 9 with about 30 UDFs on it. It was working okay. Then when client installed TC which was a Customizer Import Wizard M4X file (they didn't use an installer which is puzzling me still), it overwrote client's custom Tab 9 with the 30 UDFs with their own tab folder and put in some of their own UDFs there. They wouldn't help the client create a tab 10 and move over the existing UDFs from the original Tab 9. And they wouldn't create their own Tab 10 either as an option. They said it's the consultant's responsiblity to move the UDFs from 9 to 10 in this situation. The problem was this client has user-company specific screens so it wasn't just a matter of fixing 1 ###-### screen but about 4 combinations of that. I have no clue why they wouldn't use an installer to merge their controls into the next tab folder instead using the Import Wizard and hard code tab 9. Also why didn't the check for a Tab 9 to begin with or warn somebody about that requirement? Why did they completely deflect and say the consultant has to fix the issue they caused? So client called us and I told our consultant don't bother moving over 120 UDFs spanning 4 Cust Maint screens. I had one of my developers use Nomads to export the original Tab 9 UDFs to a text file then import that in on client's side as Tab 10, effective moving everything from original Tab 9 (which now has TC stuff) to Tab 10. Saved everyone a bunch of time and grief.

Looks like a mess... and of course the end user doesn't want to have to pay you to fix it.. I don;t blame them... and you recommended TC... Iv'e been there and it is frustrating.

I typically import TC's screens into a new user ID [EDI] then manually add them in and around existing custom screens. Learned the hard way when I blew away existing custom screens ( and had to restore their system from my Pre-TC install).

Still Madeline from an MD perspective they are being intentionally lame. No MD uses the Customizer Import Wizard for merging screen controls (UDFs) simply because it does not merge it overwrites. They are half-assed for sure and they know it and don't care.

TC has a track record of being lame. When I first recommended them 10 years ago, they claimed their VI jobs were ready to go. They were total screwed up and unusable. Client ended up keying every order (for reasons beyond the TC jjobs). Fast forward to last year, a client went with their BOI integration. I handled the Sage side of things and did exactly what @MadelineStefanou does, imported their screens to a user and manually changed all panels. The import wizard works fine as long as the client doesn't have any customization, which is usually never. @AlnoorCassim - Interesting concept regarding the installer. Why doesn't Sage offer that option instead of the import wizard?

Always quote 16 hours of services (minimum) to cover my time. More if I actually have action items.
