I thought ERP X3 Standard was already out in the USA. I know that I've heard discussions about it -- and I think the discussions date back a year or so.

We already have 3 X3 var's in NY/NJ with another just over the var in PA. Net@work, SWK & Nextec. That's almost as many ACTIVE mas90 var's now. With standard edition being for 'up to 50 users' that puts it squarely in mas200/mas500 territory and its priced similarly and includes crm. Why would anybody buy mas200 or 500??

The announcement seems to indicate that there are more restrictions than just user count. Is that the case or not?

    Don't think so

If feel ok. I don't have many prospects or clients that need a ""one size fits all"" soluiton. Though many think this initially, very soon they realize they have unquie needs as substantiated by the number of third party enhancements they have and that are out in the marketplace. Also, the breadth of functionality of X3 is less than Sage 100. X3 scales and has a SQL database, but out of the box it is limited.

Sage makes X3 look like the 2nd coming in the web demos and it seems like its winning deals. What do you know about it to judge that it has less functionality than MAS90?

It seems that a lot of folks are saying that the features and functions are weak. I think it's a matter of the market segment being targeted is vasly under-served so X3 is getting traction.

I'm running into them all the time. This is why I wish we had let in that X3 var. I want to know the details on the real deal so i can compete against it. Anybody here know anything?

The ""out of the box"" solution is a starting point that rarely gets sold. We market MAS and SAP that way and rarely is it sold that way, but it does open doors. X3 is not fully localized for the US market and is a better competitor for Dynamics AX than 500 or 100. Like AX the biggest benefit that I have heard is that you can really tailor it to match your business process. Ask Cherry at Emerald who sells both 500 and X3 and she will tell you that 500 takes less time to implement and will have more feature function out of the box. X3 has a new web based UI that is appealing to many and confusing to just as many. X3 makes a ton of sense from an R&D perspective and is probably one of the few smart things Sage is doing these days. IMHO
