  • 1.  Job Ops Field Service

    Got a call from a customer looking for Job Ops Field Service app that could work on a mobile environment.  From other threads I have seen from Nicole it seems that there is nothing out there available.  I will contact Scanco...but wanted to confirm that it will be a dead end street.....

    The JobOps Technician Dashboard was released recently.  It is currently available for Windows Mobile devices only.  I will send you the announcement if you send me your email address.

    We have JobOps customers using iSales 100 in the field. The customers who do this use iSales to complete orders and invoices with items, misc. items, misc. charge codes and /C comments, but any JobOps related data needs to be recorded in the back office as we do not publish JobOps specific fields to iSales.

    ​Mobile solutions are available for iOS and Windows devices, but many users have devices running this obscure platform called Android, aka "The World's Most Popular Mobile Platform" according to Google. Based on this status and that Field Service & Dispatch will be the last function upgraded to v2019 - probably not completed until 2020 - my opinion is there is no viable solution at this time that a majority of users can implement.

    There are developers who support Android, but they normally specify exactly what phones or tablets they support.

    We encourage businesses to find the best software solution to satisfy their business needs, then follow along with the hardware supported by the developer.

    If they look at the expected ROI then they'll be able to decide what's more important to them - investing in the software that creates the best experience for them and their customers - or investing in software because that's what works on the mobile devices they already have, even if it doesn't exactly do what they want or need.

    @Paul Ziliak I understand and appreciate your product and approach. The Field Service and Dispatch software with integrated mobile capabilities is a specific case where a satisfactory solution​ has not been consistently available. In a perfect world, the application developer creates generic programs and integrations to their base system and mobile developers provide the integration to whatever device they are offering. We don't have that world, so we must continue to be patient until the users are offered their implementation choice among Windows, Apple and Android. This patience has been going on now for years, so sometimes my frustration is evident.

    @Lourdes Sobrino Then the new Tech Dashboard release should work as long as the customer is OK using Windows devices. This must only be available for v2018, since there has not been a 2019 release yet for existing JobOps programs, including Field Service. Expectations are 2020, and at that what version will it be?
