Job Cost - Have a new client with a controller we have history with. The controller last worked with Sage100 @ 10 yrs ago. Interested in what options we might have for them. Since JC is barely changed in the last 10 yrs, I passed that along. Not impressive since she had issues with undetailed JC data in the past. She has worked with Sage 100 Construction and hated it and the service. The client was on American Contractor until last summer, using QBooks as a stop gap but know they need a change. CPA is pushing Foundation. What is everyone recommending for Job Cost clients? I am interested in both Sage solutions as well as any other that come recommended. what sort of business is the customer in? If in mfg/service/distribution then at least consider JobOps. If construction, then look into the Sage CRE line.

I've had a couple go from Sage 100 Job Cost to Sage CRE. Job Cost seems to work ok for light use. If the company is any type of contractor with material jobs then I've found it to be way too lightweight, problematic with retainage, the ""bucket driven"" accumulation of costs/revenues really dates this product far too much for me to recommend it for construction.

We are still able to satisfy clients with Job Cost primarily for cost accounting purposes especially because of their preference for in-house Payroll. One GC actually uses Estimating. It has little to no project management features. Enhanced Change Order (JC-1022) has helped make it more useful as has Certified Payroll, both within TC module and Kissinger. Kissinger AIA billing and a few other MDs have helped make it viable in certain situations. Plenty of gaps in it though, including legacy framework.

Client in service industry is looking to migrate from Sage 100 Standard to Sage 100 Premium so they can have a SQL database because they are looking to integrate an auditing software they created that has a SQL database. However, they use the Job Cost module which is not available in Premium. So aside from considering the above options, I'm wondering if there's other systems to consider and/or other viable options ibnlt implementing a 3rd Party stand-alone solution to handle the Job Cost functionality.

How about selling them the DSD Mirror enhancement that creates a SQL table that they could then use....
