I've reached out to DataSelf. I do not believe they are a good candidate to negotiate a speaking fee with. They replied asking if they can trade in their webinar for a speaking slot. I believe negotiating with them will only produce an affiliate who expects a discount every year. I'll update if I hear more later today.

The point of the presentation was to be, I think, ""BI beyond Sage Intelligence or Biznet."" Perhaps we can find some 90 Minder who has done enough work in the area to share experience with us?

Wow, don't need customers nor affiliates that always expect discounts. @JerryNorman Biznet didn't pay affiliate renewal, and we already have a SI vs. Renova session. I recommend we find another topic altogether, couple of ideas as it's a technical track: Paul Ziliak xkzero - Mobile OS Apple vs Android Mike Nottoli - Visual Integrator Conditional Stmts, Perform Logic (he just finished a project using lots of conditional stmts)

Paul Ziliak. Great guy. I believe xKzero's opinion is why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free.

I agree with Wayne. Moira, I was not suggesting a Biznet session. I had in mind a session on tools beyond that level. Qlikview, Tibco, Tableau-based. Or we could find a couple members to discuss how they were able to get their customers to use BI beyond just simple reporting. Using their ERP and related system to maximize their day-to-day decisionmaking and customer service.

Got it @JerryNorman, I like those ideas.

    That would be good.

    1. Wouldn't Rebecca be covering some of the things she's used BI for with her customers? 2. I didn't attend Doug Jenkins VI vs. BOI session last year. Would having Mike Nottoli cover VI again be a repeat of sorts? If not, I like that idea but again, I didn't attend last year's session. Attached is an updated agenda.

I forgot that Doug did a presentation last year on VI vs BOI, I didn't attend it either, wish I had. I think we have two open slots still. I'm sure Sage would leap at the chance to take one of them, but we have them scheduled for 3 other sessions already (PR, SI & Road Ahead) so I don't think that's a good idea. We need 2 sessions then presented by 90 Minds Member (not an affiliate). @JerryNorman if you knew of two members to present how they use BI internal/externally, that would be great. We are bumping up against deadlines, we need schedule finalized by Jan 27/28. If we can't fill these spots I recommend that the Acumatica and xTuple sessions be expanded as general sessions, especially in light of the news from Sage of Rich Springs departure.

And to add to the above, SAP is scheduled for a general session. Changing Acumatic and xTuple to general sessions would mean all major publishers have general sessions this year.

@MoiraGoggin I like that idea of changing Acumatic and xTuple to a general session especially if SAP is going to be a general session. Would it be so bad that we have 3 general sessions per day?

  • 12.  RE: I've reached out to DataSelf. I do not believe the

    Posted 01-11-2016 12:08
I recall we offered SAP a general session in recognition of its higher investment level than Acumatica and xtuple.

And the fact that it will be SAP's first year and we gave Acumatica and xTuple general sessions last year when it was their first year.

Regarding the ""beyond SI-Biznet"" BI. I think the members who have larger customers and non-Sage 100 customers could have relevant experience for us. SWK, I-BN, etc.

Agree @JerryNorman SAP is paying more and 'earned' a general session and agree @ThereseLogeais on their first year treatment similar to Acuamtica and xTuple's first year. Just trying to solve the scheduling issue - @JerryNorman Gary and Jeff are presenting one session already on diversification, who else would be a good fit for your idea and when will you contact them?

    Posted 01-11-2016 12:18
We can of course, make the Acumatica and xTuple sessions general if we can't fill the vacancies.

I know I have been out of it ,but what about giving Scanforce general since they paid for Platinum and moving Scripting vs Modifications down for the 2 open sessions? I do prefer Acumatica and xTuple as general sessions just thought I give another thought. Might make Platinum more inviting next year??

That's a very good idea @DianeRuth - The Scripting vs Modifications could easily be an hour session instead of 1/2 hour and ScanForce not only paid for platinum but paid back in November! I vote for this idea.

re: Nottoli: I don't think it would necessarily be a rehash. Even if it was, Nottoli has a different perspective from Doug Jenkins, so it would be different enough.
