I've had quite a lot of problems with a pay website partnercompete.com linking out to blog posts on my www.erplife.com site. The site charges Microsoft partners an annual fee for competitive information. In many cases they've created posts which they source to erplife.com -- but do not link. One of them would lead people to to reasonably believe that I'd written their post (not the case as I'm not affiliated with them at all). The guy who appears to be behind this is Jason Carter. I tried to connect with him over the summer to express my unhappiness with the practice but he never responded. After some thought I've decided to figure out a way to lock down the site so that it's members only. Probably will be limited to Sage partners but I'm still in the process of trying to decide how to recoup the cost of hosting, etc. FYI

Trying to follow this...so this pay website would have a link on their site to your blog article at erplife so that they could charge for someone to read your article?

@WayneSchulz - Have you tried sending DCMA take down letters to their ISP?

The issue is not that the other site mentions my writing - it's more that it's done in such a way as to give the impression that I may have written the article. This in turn causes Sage to exert pressure by calling around to see who they can contact who can shut me up.

Have you thought about having a lawyer send this company's owner a strongly worded leter?

Or have Sage have their in-house counsel send the letter. Sounds like Sage feels they are getting hurt as well.

I'm not saying they are doing anything improper. They are sourcing heavily off my work and when they reference back to it they just indicate the name of the blog and don't provide a link so that the reader can see that sometimes what they've titled the article has little to do with what I wrote. And Sage would just as easily send me a legal letter if they could come up with anything that wasn't back by fact, satire or opinion...

The beef I have is the site charges money and basically was taking lots of my stuff as competitive info. Much of it is my fault and I'm going to close the loophole by making the content private. I just haven't decided whether to charge.
