I've had a few people asking me questions about restaurants and attractions in NOLA. There are some very cool things to do that are indoors and safe from the sauna that we call ""The Gulf Coast."" Within easy walking distance of the Riverside Hilton are the Aquarium of the America's, the Audubon Insectarium, and the National World War II Museum. All three of these are wonderful distractions and are open 7 days a week. Other attractions include The Cabildo, The Presbytere, and The Old U.S. Mint. I'm not sure about which days these are open.
I've sent a a list of some of my favorite restaurants to several people. These include sandwich shops like ""Maspero's,"" southern cooking at ""Mother's,"" and upper end places like ""The Rib Room.""
If you like charbroiled oysters, you can hardly get better than ""Drago's"" which is located in the Riverside Hilton. If you don't like charbroiled oysters then you haven't tried them. Of course they have other stuff like seafood and steaks.
I won't list all of the possibilities here, but if you want a list of some my favorite (and vetted) NOLA eateries, then just PM me and I'll shoot you the list.
I'm arriving on Sunday afternoon and I am craving a muffaletta. And, for those who don't know, Cafe` Du Monde is a ""gotta do"" but I can tell you the best times to go and just how to get in quickly.
And who wants to grab a corner of the piano bar at Pat O's?
