I've had a few people asking me questions about restaurants and attractions in NOLA. There are some very cool things to do that are indoors and safe from the sauna that we call ""The Gulf Coast."" Within easy walking distance of the Riverside Hilton are the Aquarium of the America's, the Audubon Insectarium, and the National World War II Museum. All three of these are wonderful distractions and are open 7 days a week. Other attractions include The Cabildo, The Presbytere, and The Old U.S. Mint. I'm not sure about which days these are open. I've sent a a list of some of my favorite restaurants to several people. These include sandwich shops like ""Maspero's,"" southern cooking at ""Mother's,"" and upper end places like ""The Rib Room."" If you like charbroiled oysters, you can hardly get better than ""Drago's"" which is located in the Riverside Hilton. If you don't like charbroiled oysters then you haven't tried them. Of course they have other stuff like seafood and steaks. I won't list all of the possibilities here, but if you want a list of some my favorite (and vetted) NOLA eateries, then just PM me and I'll shoot you the list. I'm arriving on Sunday afternoon and I am craving a muffaletta. And, for those who don't know, Cafe` Du Monde is a ""gotta do"" but I can tell you the best times to go and just how to get in quickly. And who wants to grab a corner of the piano bar at Pat O's?

Is Red Fish still open? I loved that place when I was down there, and if you can snag a spot at Emeril's kitchen bar (only 4 spots first come first serve) it is an experience.

And... I assume the Palace Caf is still there with unbelievable Banana's Foster for desert and a great after dinner Sherry, Port and Whiskey menu...

Yes, Gary. The Red Fish Grill is still there on Bourbon between Canal & Iberville. And the Palace Cafe (complete with Bananas Foster) is located on Canal at the corner of Chartres. Both of those are within very safe and easy walking distance of all of the Summit hotels. While you're at it you might try Oceana Grill, Acme Oyster House, or Deanie's Seafood. Again, they are all conveniently located and easy to find. ""7 on Fulton"" is nice restaurant located in the Omni across from the Convention Center. Mulate's claims ""cajun heritage"" but I don't like it as much as Cochon's. If you want to venture down Poydras Street then check out ""Cafe at the Square."" That's a nice little cafe on St. Charles St. just off of Poydras on Lafayette Square. And if you want a REALLY great yet funky blend of deliciousness, then check out ""Juan's Flying Burrito."" It puts chains like Moe's Grill and Chipotle to shame. It's all original NOLA. You'll find it on Baronne St. just off of Poydras and about 7 blocks away from the Riverside Hilton.
