It's pretty much over for RIM. Watch for them to become an Android or Windows Phone centric platform

Been a BB user for seven years and i will probably say good-bye with my next phone. There just isn't the app base for the platform to survive.

What platform are you thinking @MyronStevenson?

Do I dare say - iOS. Was at a client yesterday and the controller asked me to setup email on her new iPhone. I don't have and I've never used an iPhone, but in 3 minutes I had the email setup to push from the Exchange server. It was sooo easy. People tell me that you can get use to the iPhone keypad.

Sadly, I agree with Myron. 2012 is the year I say good bye to BB.

    I like Windows 7 a lot.

I always liked rooting for the underdog product (hence my years with PalmOS and then WebOS) but the rise of the importance of Apps really changes the game. The coolest, slickest OS is a paperweight without availability of the key top tier apps. This is why Linux has always been DOA as a desktop platform IMHO

For the smart phone newbie, how does this one look? Motorola Electrify Android OS http://www.uscellular.com/uscellular/cell-phones/showPhoneDetails.jsp?productId=prod240002&phone-selector-compared1=&phone-selector-compared-prepaid-sku1=&phone-selector-compared-contract-sku1=&phone-selector-compared2=&phone-selector-compared-prepaid-sku2=&phone-selector-compared-contract-sku2=&phone-selector-compared3=&phone-selector-compared-prepaid-sku3=&phone-selector-compared-contract-sku3=&phone-selector-type=contract&phone-selector-category=phone-selector-android&phone-selector-price=&phone-selector-camera=0.0%2C100&phone-selector-styles=phone-style-Bar%2Cphone-style-Flip%2Cphone-style-Slider&phone-selector-brands=BlackBerry%C2%AE%2CHTC%2CHuawei%2CLG%2CMotorola%2CPantech%2CPCD%2CSamsung&phone-sort-options=1

Basically a rebrand of the Motorola Photon 4G - CNET review here - http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/motorola-electrify-u-s/4505-6452_7-35016711.html -- seems decent but there are newer models of Android that are faster, etc -- which you might consider since a 2 year contract is a long time. Are you able to use any of the major carriers - Verizon, ATT, Etc?

Thanks. I am losing sleep over my decision to retire my BB after four years of faithful service and now you are suggesting that I leave my cell carrier after 14 years?????? OMG. One change at a time!!!!!

@Jeff - Yes, make the change and then write it up as a success story so you can show your customers and prospects that you are good at managing change and they have nothing to fear.

Oh the slippery slope. First, the BB, then the phone company, then Sage................

@Jeff, you could be like Wayne and carry multiple phones and carriers. He has a iPhone, a BB and a droid. Then You have all the bases covered.

Wayne is also single - there may be a correlation there. I'n not sure Jeff is up to that much change.
