It appears that master sales order quantities do not show as committed. If I can make the quantities show as committed it will make all the difference in this client project. Does anyone know of a simple way to make this happen before I disappear down the scripting rabbit hole? Hoping I have missed something easy...

That's the way that Master SO's have worked for as long as I can remember. Issuing a std. against a master creates the on order qty. Is there a reason your customer can't issue the std sales orders?

DSD Business has an Extended Solution which may work. SO-1274 Master Orders to Impact on Sales Order Causes Master Order Balance Quantities to appear in the I/M Warehouse Quantity On S/O Bucket. The I/M Open Sales Order Inquiry has been changed to display Master Orders.

Just had a similar request and our proposal was to use a ""future"" warehouse for orders that are xx days in the future. These would have had to be regular orders.

I'm glad to hear there may be a solution out there. This customer puts in large quantity orders that ship on many different sub-sales orders (perfect use for Master Orders) however they really need to show the original large quantity as committed so they know what is truly available to promise in their inventory. @WayneSchulz are you taking the step of making an inventory transaction to move inventory to the ""future"" warehouse?

@KateKrueger we were going to script this. The customer only wanted to see sales orders which were slated to ship within 30 days. We were going to create a script that would scan all the orders at the end of the day - then the script would move any of the lines on the order which were shipping in 30+ days to a future warehouse ( 999 ) which then lets us run reports just on what's currently set to ship without worrying about future dated orders. @RobertWood created the quote and was working with me on this. Ultimately the customer decided it wasn't that important to them.
