I'm working on a Sage 100 2021 to 2025 upgrade. The customer uses SPS Commerce MAPADOC and while planning for the upgrade the install team from SPS notes:

if you are upgrading to 2025, it allows for expanding the length of the Invoice Number beyond the current 7 characters.  Should you decide you want to expand the size, it can have significant impacts on exiting data maps and could require additional work to re-map some EDI documents outside of the Scope of this upgrade project.

Has anyone run into this issue with other third-pary solutions who require you to work through them to get their enhancements upgrade? I would think that for a price list enhancement there should be some automatic type conversion but it does not seem like that is the case.

I was a little surprised ( but definitely not shocked ) to read this caveat from the ISV.

PS - I wonder whether MAPADOC locks you out from expanding the invoice number after-the fact ?

Sage doesn't force the expansion, and I think it is not unreasonable for EDI mapping changes to require special handling.

I've done a couple recent MAPADOC upgrades and just ignored the new feature.

We had an early v2025 Premium upgrade with errors in AR Invoice history inquiry related to field size (even though it was not expanded) but DSD patched it with their usual skill and efficiency.

Shouldn't the ISV subscription cover the cost of any changes due to Sage 100 feature enhancements?

    Hi Wayne
I have a client that is upgrading to 2025 from 2019 because of Paya Click2Pay. They were getting major issues in Sage.   Finally got a programmer from Nuvei/Paya to work on it.  He had to manually update the Data Dictionaries as the install did not update the invoice length.   He said that "normally" this works "on the fly" but said there is something about 2025 where is does not do this.

Part of our delay in releasing EDI Advantage for 2025 was the expanded invoice number. We had to put it through the paces to make sure everything was compliant

Another thing I ran into with a Sage100 client (non EDI)... they went and ran the utility on their own, things went sideways, and we had to go from backup. If your clients are letting on they are thinking about it, make sure you get involved or you might end up on clean up duty!

I meant to update my experience with SPS / MAPADOC - when moving to 2025, they say that as long as we don't exceed 15 characters on the invoice expansion, they won't require any rework.   Hopefully this is a feature that provides ample warning before you "proceed".
