Issue 2: Client on v2013 SP1. SY0CTL is being continuously corrupted. Client knows how to restore from backup, but is frustrated because this has happened multiple times in the last month. IT claims there are no problems with the network, power outages, or people using task manager to end processes. Does anyone know what this could be? Or, a way to diagnose this?

Just speculation, but has anyone checked the AV logs?

I would check the app server error logs myself and verify no errors or problems reported, I've had IT swear there are no problems but then i would check myself and find critical errors like network disconnections. Some file corruption in the past was confirmed to be caused by network cards having power management turned on. I would also check the antivirus logs and verify the proper file exclusions (sometimes these get reset with AV updates). I have worked with many clients in environment with industrial equipment or power issues and will recommend strategic deployment of a few smart UPS on all critical equipment. These units can be connected to the servers and workstations in different areas of the facility, and allow you to pull a power profile to monitor for clean power and to see any power condition that occurred that may have caused the file corruption. Also make sure that they are not using cheap or outdated network equipment (hubs, switches, cables). Hope this helps.

Trend Micro AV has caused similar issues in the past though not at the level of data corruption. Months of slow downs and random issues connecting to workstation files. IT finally relented and excluded both server and workstation Sage files and problem went away.
