Is this a WAD (aka bug) or is there really a way? Client using SPS for payments. Client enters a credit memo and wants to process the credit via SPS back to the customer. I don't see a way as the payment fields on tab 4 remain grayed out. Client ends up processing the CC credit on line at the SPS web site and manually adjusts it via cash receipts.

Sad, isn't it? I haven't found another way.

You can only put the CC in there if you apply the credit memo to the original invoice in the APPLY field on the Header. And that's a credit card thing, not just an SPS or PCCharge thing.

@BethBowers Not sure I understand. How can it be a credit card thing, if SPS and PC-Charge allow user to issue credit without referencing the original sale transaction? Essentially, a CM that does not reference an invoice # does the same thing.

I meant a credit card thing in MAS - as opposed to it only happening when you were using SPS or only happening when you were using PC Charge.

My understanding of this is that you always had to process a credit card refund back to the same card - this is there to avoid fraud where an employee credits a sale back to their own credit card, etc.

Yes, and you have to pick the original invoice via the ""apply to"" number then it brings in the original card number. Also, it does not let you process a credit for more than the original invoice -- FYI.

@WayneSchulz I knda agree, but the logic is flawed. What prevents that same employee from crediting their card in SPS? If it's not in MAS, it can be easily buried.

SPS can be secured with a separate password (I'm assuming you are talking about web access to the terminal). I have a customer who has this exact concern - they have 15-20 sales order entry people who they disallow access to the SPS login via the web because they do not want any fraud. The way they handle it is to only have a trusted few people manually process CC but they also have bigger ticket charges.

So if you do associate it with the original invoice, then issue a credit back to the card, how does this show up in MAS?

As a credit memo 'paid' by credit card
