Is there anyone who can provide a clear explanation of why when Sage issues a product update they cannot also update their setup.exe/wksetup/wksupdate. Business Reason: Not all customers want to pay us to go workstation to workstation to run the setups. And it's unreasonable to believe that most customers who do this themselves should have to run through a laundry list of things to run just to account for what are plain and simple Sage Product Defects. Specifically the issue I've encountered is the lame ""No prompt to update payroll checks"". As Sage is collecting 21% maintenance it is my strong opinion that they are duty bound to the customer to eliminate this type of bush league poor programming and patch management.

I believe that has been changed as of v2014, at least with Sage 100 Advanced. After installing a product update, the first time you start Sage 100 Advanced workstation, there's a message showing a workstation synchronization where I believe it's applying the patches locally. I haven't noticed any such message with Standard, though.

Although I don't know exactly what it does, doesn't that synchronization also happen in v2013?

I don't think that it did with the recent upgrade. Two end users found that they could not update their payroll checks and as a matter of upgrade process I always install the new version, then the product update then we run workstation setup I'm baffled why I'd need a standalone workstation setup updater. Certainly Sage could/should improve the setup so that in encompasses the fixes.

It was pu2 that they added it, so if your client was on. V2013 and had pu1 you need to install the wksupdate once more . Now the all future wksetup now includes the workstation synchronization rouine

According to the PU release notes, Sage 100 ERP Advanced and Premium Workstation Synchronization now updates the client workstation automatically. This replaces the need to run WKsUpdate.exe after installing a product update. Users running Sage 100 ERP Standard over a network will still need to run WKsUpdate Standard.exe on each workstation. This program is located in the ..\mas90\wksetup directory on the Sage 100 ERP Standard Server.
