is there any way besides the merge utiliy to transfer all transactions from accounts like 4000-01-00 to 4000-01-01 without losing the merge account. Customer of 4.5.5 has recently added 3rd segment and needs all -00 acounts moved to 01. Journal will not bring over detail and merge eliminates the source acct.

Do the merge, then recreate the source account.

I don't think so but could you use the copy function to create a set of accounts for that segment after they'd been merged/eliminated?

There is a utility to set up new accounts but you have to be very careful using it. My client set up 2K accounts by accident....... I prefer to VI the accounts required.

Yeah the volume is the thing. Many accounts would have to be recreated. @JeffSchwenk I have used that utility and it can be dangerous. VI would seem like the ticket. Since I had the issue with that format this weekend I think that will be my way to go thanks also to @WayneSchulz
