Is there a way in MAS 90/200 to hide a menu option by user or by role? I have a client that is integrated with Sage CRM and wants certain users to have access to maintain customer data in CRM but not access it in MAS.

You have security in both systems on what you are able to view or maintain.

Thanks Diane. From what I have read, in order to maintain customer data in CRM, the user has to have security access to Customer Maintenance in MAS as well. With than in mind, I thought hiding the menu option in MAS for a certain role might be a good alternative for keeping the needed security access but limiting the ability to maintain the data in MAS. I have found the global menu maintenance utility, sy_menu_ui, but have not found a way to maintain the menu by role.

Shawn I am no expert in Sage CRM but now thinking about it - why can they change the CRM record and not have it go back to MAS??? Isn't the whole idea about CRM linked to MAS is that they stay sync? Maybe in CRM there is some security that they can't update MAS??? Just guessing.

I just did a quick test using the following setup... Customer Maintenance in Role turned off in MAS, CRM integration set to allow updates from CRM. The user cannot access the Customer Maintenance link from CRM to get the MAS popup. However, the CRM user can still click Change within CRM to update the primary company screen, use the address tab for address changes, etc... Is this what you were looking to do? It appears to allow the user to maintain customer info from CRM and still be locked out of the role in MAS.

Diane, you are completely right and that is exactly how the client wants the data maintained...in CRM for it to flow back to MAS. The reason being is that CRM limits what Customer data can be maintained there. The problem the client is running into is that this set of users is sometimes maintaining the data on the MAS side which gives them access to much more customer information and they are incorrectly maintaining some of these additional fields. So the client would like to limit their ability to access the data through MAS. Just trying to find a workaround that allows for maintaining the needed security in both systems, but forces them to only maintain the customer data in CRM for it to sync back to MAS.

Create a user group in custom office and then hide or lock the fields they can or can't maintain? Can that work Shawn - I know alot of work but that should do what you want.
