Is there a technical document that tells the difference between a business framework file and a non business framework file besides the file name such as ci_item.m4t and pr1abc.soa.

You mean one difference being fields in actual individual fields instead of a file where you have to know positions and lengths?

What are you looking at doing? Are you trying to find what table name or field names are the new one? Or are you looking for business framework files have descreate fields and not strings that you must reference a position to pull the field you want? That the business framework now has multi keys, etc.
