Is there a default direct deposit stub password if passwords weren't generated (other than the override)? We selected social security # in the form settings but I guess they were never generated. I don't really want to email everyone the override password.

actually - I file assigned the SS# from PR_Employee to be the password when i imported the email addresses. Guess it didn't like that - anyway, the encrypted password shows 8 characters rather than 9

I just assisted a client today who has a fairly new employee who's ss# password wasn't working on his .pdf's. Turns out the password inside the Empl Maint>Dir Dep screen only showed 8 characters whereas everyone else's was 9. So I tried entering just the 1st 8 digits of the ss# and the .pdf opened. They don't do any importing so not sure why that password was short 1 character.

it shows their SS# in the PR_EmployeeDocuments table, but since that is an encrypted field it doesn't mean anything (without the encryption key) - strange - thanks @BrettZimmerman - I tried the first 8 characters and that didn't work. We'll either print and distribute manually this time or email out the override password. Just a warning: don't try to import/file assign the SS# to the direct deposit doc password field.

@BrettZimmerman Did you ever find a solution to the 1 character short SSN Password issue? My version 4.50 SU#5 client reported this issue to me. She added in Employee Maintenance 3 new employees. All three had Direct Deposit and she set them up using their SSN as the password. The first employee uses all 9 characters but the second and third employees can view their Direct Deposit Stubs if they enter only 8 characters. No imports used here, just regular Employee Maintenance.

@MichaelMcDonald, I didn't really have the need to research it further. Seemed like an isolated incident, and never found out how or why it happened.

@BrettZimmerman I searched Sage Knowledgebase and could not find anything other than the issue related to VI import. I will wait and see if the SSN short character password issue occurs at the next payroll cycle. Thanks!

Is the leading character a zero?

@JeffSchwenk I'll check with client tomorrow. All other 60 employee SSNs begin with something other than zero.
