Is there a best practice for migrating Paperless Office documents from one server to a new server as you do an upgrade? We have a customer upgrading from 4.4 to 4.5 with three companies with Paperless office and a ton of documents. When they migrated from 4.3 to 4.4 some of the documents did not relink properly (we didn't hear that until now) and they want to make sure it will work properly this time. The new Knowlegebase absolutely sucks.

Are you changing servers also? Hard to tell from the post? The link utility works fairly well in v4.5. Since they are already on v4.4, you could do an inplace install and not have to worry about losing anything. Easy to do (usually). Just make a backup of the original. Of course, if you are changing servers, you may have to use the link utility.................

Yes we are switching servers and we use UNC in the configuration so the path will have to change. Out thought is 1. Copy the files 2. Change the paths 3. Use the link utility 4. Pray it works

I've done a few and used the link and can echo Jeff's comments that the link seems to work. Older version(s) of the link utility were hit or miss. Mostly miss.

Undoubtedly, you will see mssing links. Not sure why this occurs, but it does. I have started running the link to view the broken links, then deleting them before starting the relink/move process. If I don't and I select a broken link to move, nothing moves. Being the eternal optimist, I KNOW someday Sage will fix this to ignore broken links........................................

This has worked well for me when changing locations or servers- Go into the current version of the MAS and: - In Paperless Setup, change the PDF directory paths to the new paths - go to the Viewers in Paperless Main and use the Move feature to move the PDFs to the new location Then, when you migrate the data to the new location, the program has the new location already assigned and the links are intact.
