Is Sage still finicky about having Paperless Documents stored on the same server as the Program Files/Database? Customer is on v2015 advanced, just bought a new server with Server 2016 and I had them spin up a v2012 for Sage. Client is expecting some documents to go to the main server/file server. Can I accomodate this without problems and with correct permissions or am I asking for problems? Thanks

I always have the Paperless folder near the main folder.

I have a client successfully using v2017 Advanced with the Paperless folder on different server. However, they are not emailing any documents from within Sage. Other clients have tried using a different server for the Paperless folder and it didn't work. I always recommend to my clients to keep the Paperless folder on the same server as Sage.

I usually create a folder \acct inside I use a folder with the version number for Sage \v2018 and also one for paperless \paperless. This makes it easier to copy \acct during a server move and know (hope) I have all the files for Sage. The only time I had problems with paperless on a different server was with Sage 100 Advanced and the server was using a local admin and not domain asking which I think means the server couldn't see other server shares and therefore threw an error during paperless. From then on I just put everything in a common folder on the same server whenever possible.

While it's advisable to put everything on same server, customers have asked that paperless docs reside elsewhere... especially when they're using Alternate Directories. I've not had any issues with this setup when security is properly configured. As Wayne mentioned, Advanced requires a network account (used to run the Sage 100 service) with sufficient rights to both servers.

I am with @WayneSchulz as well. I used to put paperless UNDER the MAS90 folder so that it would always be backed up but it became a royal PITA when upgrading. Now I create a Sage folder and then under that put my v2018 folder. Also under Sage is a folder call Images which is where I store Paperless as well as one called ScanDocs for all the PDF's that clients create of vendor invoices.
