Is it possible to migrate data from 4.1 to 4.5 wit

Is it possible to migrate data from 4.1 to 4.5 without migrating system data? The migration always fails in the system data migration. If you're interested in the error message, it is ""xCopyFile returned the following error - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."" Thanks in advance.

I had an issue like that once, I actually took a copy of my demo 4.1 system file and replaced the one i was having problems with. The migration seemed to work after that. What error message are you receiving?

Sorry. I edited the message just after I posted to include the error, but it is ""xCopyFile returned the following error - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."" I don't have a copy of 4.1, but I will in a minute.

Server reboot help? Did you close the desktop panel that is supposed to close automatically? It didn't for me on a v4.5 90 install. Took me two tries before it dawned on me what what happening. Also for me, because it died during system migration, I had to reinstall the application files. The second time, I made a backup copy of the clean system. Didn't need it after I figured out the issue, but it was there just in case.

Interesting - I had a similar error but it turned out that mine was related to SY1USR.SOA. I think I later determined that I could have deleted the records in SY1USR.soa in prior version then migrate or Rename and Manually Reinitialize SY1USR.soa then migrate

I'm dealing with a copy of the files on my own machine now, so these files shouldn't be in use by anything.

open up the $Actpvx.bat file (under home) with notepad and see if the end of that string is the user key (with the last two characters dropped). I can't rememebr if that was the same error message I received but I had something strange like that happen a week or two ago and I had to edit that file

I had a customer that just copied their 4.2 MAS_xxx folder to the 4.50 MAS and did data conversion. Surprisingly, it seemed to work :)

Clark, I have done that quite a few times. The downside is system and user files not being copied. There is probably a workaround for that but I don't know of it.

@JenniferChriston: I attempted to empty and reinitialize the SY1USR.SOA, but I still got the error. The file on the screen when the ""xCopyFile"" error message comes up is SY_EBusinessManagerUserID.M4T, which could be the last successful file, or the failed file. I doubt that it is the failing file, because it's empty. I may end up using @EricAnderson's and @ClarkWalliser's suggestion to copy files over and skip the system files. I'm headed home tonight though. I've looked at this too many times.

I had this error on a preliminary upgrade, going from 4.3 to 4.5 on MAS 200, using a copy my client made of the entire MAS90 folder. They swear no one was in, service stopped, no outside queries running. I ended up migrating on my local laptop-I didn't get the error. Sage claims it's permissions related?? But when I did the final live upgrade with their actual live database (rather than a copy) I didn't encounter this error. However I was on a different server both times so permissions may have been involved.

Yikes, 11:45 PM and I am hit with this message. Time to call it quits. Will figure it out in the morning, I did stop the CRM integration engine and the E-biz services. I wonder if there is another service lurking. Attempting a v4.5 migration to v2013. Perhaps I'll let Sage resolve it since client is on Gold support....

Rebooted the server this morning, connected as the administrator, stopped the Web engine and the CRM integration and the migration worked. Perhaps it is a rights issue.
