Is it my faulty logic or should the auto reversal feature in GL use the original date of the entry rather than the current system date? To me, a reversal should reverse with the same date as the original transaction. Perhaps I've missed an option somewhere? v2016.5

I can see your point, but I actually prefer current date. The period could be closed already which wouldn't allow posting backwards to original date.

Are you talking about the internal creation system date and not the actual posting date of the GL?

For me, I would like to know that if the entry I am looking at is the reversing one or the original one. Something that says reversing in the description would be acceptable.

No, when you click the reverse button in GL - Acct Maintenance - Transaction tab - it creates a reversal but uses the current accounting date as opposed to the date of the original entry. It's easy enough to fix and easy enough to miss.

The description includes ""Reversal"" and it comes back to Journal Entry data entry screen so at least there is an opportunity to make changes before posting.
