    Previously I thought that Higher Logic would put replies to a thread toward the bottom. Which means if you scrolled all the way down you'd see the latest reply.

    Now in at least one reply that I've made it looks like this has changed slightly and the newest reply is the first that you see which means for lengthy reply chains - especially if people reply to replies - you need to really look and scroll up to see all the new replies.

    Maybe I'm mistaken and if so I apologize.

    I think I've noticed this once or twice in maybe the last week or two

    Sorry I think I'm mistaken. I believe the confusion is that when people reply to replies ( instead of the main message ) it creates a confusing reply chain. It's not super easy to see that in essence a new conversation chain has started.

    My example where I noted this ( there are others ) is here.

    Yes, I've continued to notice that; not a big fan.  Logic says to simply go to the bottom to see the latest posts.  Crazy to have to hunt and peck sometimes.  It seems to happen if you click 'Reply' on any post in the thread besides the last/bottom one.

    Been that way since the get go.  I always apply to the last thread otherwise it is difficult to find the new thread.  @Anne Sawyer - is there a user display option that we can set in our profile?

    Sometimes it may depend on where someone hits reply whether it is the initial post or a subsequent post. 

    Worth noting - you have the expand/collapse view snapshot at the top.  That may help in terms of navigating responses.  I will look into this more but nothing has been changed on our end or HL.  Thanks!


    Expand/collapse the Summary View

    Within a discussion thread, there's what's called the Summary View above the initial post and its various replies.

    This view makes it easy to quickly see all of the replies a post has received, and jump to any you're interested in reading (just click a link to do so).

    You can directly control whether the Summary View is fully expanded or collapsed by clicking the Expand all and Collapse all buttons at the top right of the page.

    Thanks, @Anne Sawyer.  It looks like the 'sort by most recent' option can also help.  Unfortunately though it appears you have to change your setting/view every time, unless there's a setting I'm not finding?​

    I don't think this behavior changed. Like many social media tools (eg, FB), this one tries to enable subthreads. Unfortunately, it is simply not as clear as the others about what you're doing. Like FB, Nextdoor, and others, recent posts in a subthread often are not obviously "Most recent".

    I don’t seem to have as many problems with this on mobile. However, reading online with larger message threads I’m unsure that there isn’t something else happening that causes them to be difficult to read.

    I thought the indents indicated where people replied to either the OP or someone’s reply.

    However sometimes it seems that the replies are out of order where newer replies seem “higher up” in the reply chain with an older message or two underneath and there is no indenting so it’s become a game of scroll from the top when I see a new message notification. This is more time consuming for the long threads.

    Example - message 13 in this discussion seems to be out of order and/or the indentation is misleading? Maybe it only indents a certain number of levels and after that the replies no longer indent which makes it difficult to scroll and read.

    Hi Wayne - I am looking into this but may I ask how you are viewing it? 

    I see the thread break at 16 - not thirteen - but that is because the replies are sorted under a specific posting under the main (from my view)

    I also viewed it by most recent which helps 

    As soon as I get clarification on the settings and any potential differences, I will get back to you.
