Sage 100

Is anyone using faxing through Paperless office? I seem to recall that the preferred method was fax via email with a service like eFax. If I recall Sage supports only Microsoft Faxing. I can't recall whether that is a suitable solution or if people who had to have faxing moved away from it due to issues (and if so - that those issues were). Any feedback on Microsoft Faxing through Paperless?

I have a customer still faxing through Microsoft Faxing. They won't give it up even for email/faxing. Works fine till we get a new server, then nobody remembers how to configure it (especially the part about plugging in the phone line to the server modem!)

I had issues with local numbers versus long distance numbers within the same area code.

I think this falls into the dot matrix printer column. It works but no one remembers how to fix it when there is a problem. Stay away from courier pigeons. They really have difficulty delivering the stone tablets.

I was in the process of telling a v2017 client they can fax from Sage 100 via eFax within Paperless.  Is that still true or do they have to use Microsoft Fax(ing) Service?

DSD has an enhancement that allows paperless office to fax via efax.  We have a customer who has been using it daily for years and it works very well.

The enhancement utilizes paperless, so you can use all the settings with that. 

Otherwise I think if you just printed to the "eFax" printer it wouldnt pull in the Fax Number from sage and the paperless office settings and stuff

I havent looked at the standard sage faxing functionality in a log time but last I knew, it required that you set up a Fax Modem or something.

We're not using the DSD enhancement, the customer e-mail address is their fax number@efax.com so paperless office sends the e-mail and efax converts and sends the fax.  It has been set up that way for several years and works pretty well.

eFax (www.efax.com) can be set up for both sending and receiving.  Very easy to use.  Simply uses the paperless email addresses.
